About "Sustainable travel stories" by ETH Zurich's Air travel project

ETH Zurich is committed to sustainability. The ETH Zurich’s Air travel project seeks to motivate members of ETH to reduce greenhouse gas emissions generated by business trips. The aim here is to embark on a reduction path compatible with excellence in science and the best career opportunities for researchers. Working in a participatory process, the departments, Executive Board and administrative units at ETH Zurich agreed to a per capita reduction of on average 11% from 2019 until 2025, taken against the average for 2016-​​2018. Cutting down on air travel thus has the greatest potential for reducing GHG emissions. Yet as an internationally networked university with high reputation, ETH Zurich relies on cooperation and exchange with partners around the globe.

For our „Sustainable travel stories“ platform, inspiring examples were selected to display how social change is fostered at different levels at other universities, companies and organisations. Moreover, individuals share their personal experiences on their way to sustainable travelling in connection with research, teaching and working in academia.
